Why Replacing Line 3 is the #SafestWay
Line 3 was installed in the 1960s and has fueled Minnesota and the region well for over 60 years! As with any equipment or infrastructure from the 1960s, maintenance and updates grow in their importance. For the sake of our energy security on into the future, it is critical that we update and replace Line 3 for the sake of our communities and environment.
This awesome construction project is a $2.6 billion PRIVATE investment in Minnesota. The Safest Way Tour had the opportunity to be with Labor and Enbridge as they signed a Project Labor Agreement late last year. With LiUNA, the 49ers, Teamsters and other skilled Labor, this PLA guarantees the professionalism and Respect of Minnesota’s best construction workers. This skilled Labor force will replace a degraded line with thicker, modern pipe critical to protect our environment on into the future.
At a time of uncertainty, when we are all rallying around community, the replacement of Line 3 is more critical than ever. We know this new line will be the Safest Way to move our critical energy across the region. The Construction jobs, and side benefits to our local restaurants, retailers, gas stations and lodging is critical as our economy comes back to life after weeks of uncertainty. The time is now to replace Line 3!
